Employment counseling and assistance are also provided at New Life Recovery Service, designed to meet the needs of clients who may face great challenges in the workplace.
Many New Life Recovery Service clients have been out of the job market for a significant period of time, or have never worked in a mainstream job. Many believe they cannot be employed. A significant emphasis is placed on addressing fears and concerns which may inhibit success in finding a job and maintaining it. All pre-employment, placement, and follow-up services are provided by the New Life Recovery Service Transitional Case Manager.
Employment assistance is provided on a one-to-one basis as well as through a group format. Clients participate in Career Development, a job seeking and employment preparation group in which they review and complete the job readiness manual, and participate in group discussions and exercises such as creating master applications, resumes, drafting cover and thank you letters, and videotaping mock interviews.
The Transitional Case Manager provides orientation and referral to various employment assistance and training organizations including E.D.D., Department of Rehabilitation, Missions Hiring Hall, Tool-works, Northern California Service League, San Francisco Career Link, and City College Adult Training Programs. The Job Developer also works with individual employers and makes direct client referrals.
